المستخلص

The current study aimed to achieve a set of objectives, including; knowing the level of depression and anxiety among adolescent orphans residing in social foster homes in Riyadh, knowing the relationship between the level of depression and anxiety among adolescent orphans residing in social foster homes in Riyadh, and knowing the differences in depression and anxiety in light of some demographic variables (length of stay, type of stay, educational level) among a sample of adolescent orphans residing in social foster homes in Riyadh. The sample consisted of (30) adolescent orphans residing in social foster homes in Riyadh, whose ages ranged between (14-18) years. The instruments consisted of the Beck Depression Scale and the Taylor Explicit Anxiety Scale, and the study found the following results:

1- Adolescent orphans residing in social foster homes in Riyadh suffer from anxiety (44.66%) and depression (33.95%), which may affect their quality of life if they do not pay attention to providing more psychological care and counseling programs for them.

2- There is a strong, positive and statistically significant correlation at a significant level (0.01) between the level of depression and explicit anxiety suffered by adolescent orphans residing in social foster homes in Riyadh.

The study recommended a set of recommendations that should be adopted to alleviate the severity of anxiety and depression in orphans
